Privacy policy

ReNewMe is made by a solo developer, @dev-joshua-py. This page says plainly what the app and this website do with information. The short version is that neither collects any.

The app

Everything you enter stays on your own device. That includes:

  • your name or nickname, if you give one;
  • your answers during setup, including when you tend to struggle and what sets it off;
  • the statements, plans and letter you write;
  • your streak, the urges and slips you log, your check-ins and your journal.

None of it is sent to the developer or to anyone else. There is no account, no sign-in and no server that holds a copy. The app contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking code.

Notifications, sensors and the app lock

Reminders are scheduled on the device itself and are worded so that they do not reveal what the app is for. The motion sensor is read only to move highlights on screen and its readings are not stored. If you turn on the app lock, the fingerprint, face or PIN check is done by your phone; the app is only told whether it passed.

The browser version

If you use ReNewMe in a browser, the same information is kept in that browser's storage on your device. Clearing the browser's site data deletes it. It is not synced between devices.

Keeping, exporting and deleting your data

You can export a copy of your data from the You tab, and delete all of it from the same place. Uninstalling the app also removes it. Because nothing is held anywhere else, there is nothing for the developer to delete on your behalf, and no way to recover your data if you lose your device.

This website

This site sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts. It is served by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical request data such as your IP address in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. The Android download is hosted by GitHub, which does the same when you download the file. Their own privacy policies describe how they handle that data.

Children

ReNewMe is intended for adults and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
